Acupuncture
Oriel Road Medical Centre proudly offers Acupuncture services in our Ivanhoe clinic. The Australian Medical Acupuncture College promotes acupuncture by medical practitioners as a safe, effective and unique modality of treatment within the framework of western medicine to achieve better health outcomes for all Australians.”
Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine that has been
around since 100BC.
“Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believe the human body has more than 2,000 points connected by pathways or meridians. These pathways create an energy flow (Qi, pronounced “chee”) through the body that is responsible for overall health. Disruption of the energy flow can cause disease. By applying very fine needles to certain points, it is thought to improve the flow of Qi, thereby improving health.” – John Hopkins University
Treatment can be effective for:
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Headaches and migraines
- Musculo-skeletal disorders (low back pain, sciatica & osteoarthritis)
- Period pain
Traditional Acupuncture involves the use of fine, sterilised and disposable needles, which are inserted into locations on the body. Laser technology can also be in place of needles.
